PERFUME, ELEGANCE, AGE …
Whomever has told you that perfume expires, ages, or goes bad is probably speaking of cheap perfumes. I can tell you one thing, perfume is like wine. It can age beautifully to a most marvelous creature that defies the senses, or go sour like vinegar. It is all about education. Today I want to talk about SHALIMAR. My grandmother’s go to scent … A once beautiful concoction in the oriental rich heady movement of luxury French fragrances. With amazingly chosen oils and raw ingredients and notes of bergamot, iris, vanillin, night blooming flowers, musks, producing a silky deep black velvety ode to the night, exotic gardens, and love. Dark, Syrupy, and Thick - gorgeous bottles from the 30’s make my head spin with delight. A lighter colored Shalimar indicates a cheap new version, full of alcohol, and cheaper synthetics - watch out! You will not be getting the gem women once fainted over.
Some days just look like this … And it’s more than ok … It can be … Quite beautiful.
